Building a strong foundation for a child's intellectual development at an early age is a crucial step in an individual's educational future and life. Sadly, many children are subject to inadequate learning conditions at a very early age, even in Austin itself. They spend their earliest years in classrooms ill-fitted for accommodating the nascent minds just beginning to grow, unable to flourish in the negligent conditions they find themselves in.
The backbone of the developing brain that is elementary school is, for many young students, weakened and frail due to improper learning conditions and a lack of access to resources the children need to rise to their full potential. We intend, in our own small way, to fight this injustice taking place all over the globe. We intend to help our local elementary schools, getting them the resources they deserve.
In Capstone, each group of students is tasked with addressing an issue in their community. We have chosen to address community involvement and enhancing the learning environment of students. As a part of our AGS (Academy for Global Studies) Senior Capstone class, we are collecting donations to then purchase school supplies and backpacks, which we will give to students at Sanchez Elementary to provide an elevated potential to educate themselves.
