Support Early Literacy at Lanier High School Today!
The Lanier Library is requesting donations to purchase developmentally-appropriate titles to use during weekly storytime with parenting students and their infant and toddler children.
Currently, Lanier High School has 14 teen moms, 4 teen dads, and 6 pregnant students, who receive support through coordinated services including; Strengthening Relationships/Strengthening Families, Project HOPES, and Armstrong Community Music School. Lanier’s Child Development Center currently cares for 7 toddlers and 7 infants, all of whom have a student parent at Lanier High School.
Your donation will help buy books in support of the following at Lanier High School:
- Early childhood literacy and language development
- Vocabulary expansion
- Social-emotional development of the parents and the children
- Parent-child bonding
- School readiness
- An early love of books and learning
Lanier High School is also accepting gently-used children's books.
Gently-used children book donations will be accepted at Lanier High School's front office, located at 1201 Payton Gin Rd, Austin, TX 78758.
